A unique dining experience is what we offer our customers at My Place Restaurant. Louise Tambascio opened the restaurant as a luncheonette over twenty years ago and it has transpired, with the help of her two sons John and Mark, into a full-service restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Located at 8 Queen Street in the former Newtown Post Office, the renovated building offers high-ceilings, bright and airy dining rooms, a full service bar and lounge, seating for 130 and additional space for private functions.

At My Place Restaurant we serve contemporary American cuisine in a casual family atmosphere. Some of the creative dishes we offer are: Chicken Passero – sun dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and garlic over angel hair pasta; Eggplant Rollitini - stuffed with ricotta and sausage; Veal Marino – sautéed with red roasted peppers and a creamy gorgonzola sauce; and Grilled Chicken Rocco – topped with fontina cheese, sun dried tomatoes and basil butter. My Place also serves New York style thin crust pizza and preferred specialty pies such as White, Lasagna and Mexican pizzas. Children have their own section on the menu and all our items are available for take out.

Adding to our uniqueness is the selection of over 120 beers, both in bottles and on tap. Mark Tambascio is a certified brew master and stocks a wide selection of Ales, Lagers, Porter and Stouts at the bar. Along with the huge Selection of beers, My Place also offers choice selections of both Californian and Italian wines.  Keep an eye out for information on beer tasting and special wine dinners that will be hosted at the restaurant throughout the year.

History

It was 1979 when Louise Tambascio opened the doors to "My Place Luncheonette".  She occupied one of the store fronts in the plaza that pre-dated with now "Big Y" shopping mall in Newtown, CT.  Louise and her friendly staff soon had one of the most popular breakfast/lunch establishments in Newtown.  In 1989 her sons John and Mark joined her in an adjacent store to start at New York style Pizzeria in combination with provincial Italian cuisine dinners.  Their thin crust pizza and freshly prepared entrees soon placed them in a position to merge with their mom in 1992.

Down came the walls separating the two restaurants!

This now famous establishment continued until the decision was made to locate the Big Y Supermarket into the shopping center.  At this time, in 1998, "My Place" moved into the old Newtown Post Office.  After extensive renovations under the watchful eyes of matriarch Louise, this upscale, unique family restaurant was ready to serve their loyal patrons of Newtown and surrounding areas once again.
